Dr. Rice serves as a Psychologist and Clinical Coordinator at REACH of Louisville. She holds a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University and a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Nursing from the University of Washington. In addition, Dr. Rice has a private practice specializing in children, teens and families. She also provides counseling and consultation services for a college of nursing in the Louisville area. In addition, Dr. Rice has been a Registered Nurse for over 43 years, specializing in community and mental health care of children, adults and families. She came to REACH with a wide-variety of experience, including teaching in university nursing programs, serving as a Flight Nurse for the Wyoming Air National Guard, implementing a family advocacy program for the U.S. Department of Defense in the Netherlands and developing educational programs for the International Academy of Health Care Management in Wiesbaden, Germany. Since entering the field of psychology, Dr. Rice has focused on working with children, adolescents and families who present with unique and complex mental, developmental and behavioral health needs. As a parent of an infant who, nearly 33 years ago, spent over one week in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, she understands on a personal level the dreams parents have for their children when those little ones have developmental issues. Dr. Rice’s doctoral dissertation focused on studying the effectiveness of the urine alarm in the treatment of bedwetting in severely developmental and behavioral disordered children who are receiving treatment in community mental health care systems.
